Big Bear Lake is the ideal place where fishermen can take a lot of fish. It’s like fishing in a barrel. You can find several variety of fish such as: Black Crappie, Blue Catfish, Bluegill, Carp, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, and Rainbow Trout.
However, as the water temperature drops, fishing for trout is harder because trout are much more sluggish and hard to catch than in warmer weather. Being cold blooded, the fishes metabolism slows down when are on cold water.
Another downside of fishing in cold water is the bait freezing. Once the bait freezes it is difficult for the hook to set.
Usually, to prevents freezing I modify the bait by mixing the Powerbait with Zekes white floating bait and it softens it up plus.
